Ceramic dish with lustre decoration that portrays a musician playing the lute. Lustre decoration, one of the most important achievements of Islamic pottery, first appeared in Iraq, in Samarra, the capital of the Abbasid state from 836 until 883. Egypt, 11th c. Rim diam. 0.38 m.
