The Pilgrimage of the Knight Arnold von Harff from Cologne through Italy, Syria, Egypt, Arabia, Ethiopia, Nubia, Palestine, to Turkey, France and Spain, that he completed in the years 1496 to 1499, has described and illustrated with drawings.

A report on Harff’s expedition to Egypt, the Sinai, west Arabia via Meccah to the Indian Ocean, to the island of Sokotra, the Mountains of the Moon and the sources of the Nile, down the Nile to Kairo. Whereas Harff’s description of the Holy Land and Egypt is doubtlessly based on fact, it has been doubted whether he really travelled through Ethiopia or whether his description of that part of Africa was not only based on three 15th-century maps available to him.
