Drinker in The Painted Wooden Ceiling of the Palatine Chapel
Cappella Palatina

Palermo, Sicily

A larger image of this Drinker in the Cappella Palatina - The Painted Wooden Ceiling of the Palatine Chapel.

This figure seems to be of a non-Arab or Berber, perhaps a Greek scribe or scholar, as he seems to be making a point. The halo around his head is often found in islamic book ilustrations. His robe is a deep red, with golden trim; the motifs either black or a very dark blue, edged in yellow.

Previous: Man in robe, perhaps a eunuch
Next: Muslim musicians
