Manasse's Chronicle, 1344-5. Compared to the Byzantine History of Alexander, this Bulgarian manuscript is harder to interpret. Yet the figures in the upper register clearly have no visible armour other than helmets and perhaps lamellar aventails (Cod. Slav. 2, Vatican Lib., Rome.)
