The name on the mural is spelt as above, allowing for transliteration from the Greek alphabet, but the sources quoted by Jerphanion variously call him Ailianos, Ilianos or Iulianos (Julian). He appears to have a jewelled garment over his torso armour, unless this is a feature of the armour itself. There is a suggestion of a "circular patch" at the waist as on many other figures. The fact that the whole armoured region is coloured the same shade of brown suggests that: (a) the armour is made of leather (b) there are no changes in its construction, no gaps. His thigh region is shown flesh-coloured, suggesting that he is barelegged except for his boots.
