Perhaps even more expensive than lustre ware were the so-called mināʾi or haft-rangi ceramics, with multi-coloured painted and gilt decoration on a cream-white, light blue, or green glazed ground. Figural representations dominate; the scale of the figures is normally small so that narrative contents (from historical or epic narratives) are sometimes represented.
